Story Publication: Days of Moloch

My erotic romance story, Days of Moloch, has been published in an Xcite Books anthology, Past Pleasures, both in digital and print.

In the gloom of the Third Reich’s decline, a passionate romance blooms between a young German woman and a Polish forced labourer. If others learn about their deviant affair, they will face a cruel punishment.

But nights are dark and windows are blacked out when the clandestine lovers escape into their act of love, submission, dominance and defiance.

Like my much earlier erotica, One Night After the War, this story is an offshoot of my work on my historical novel set during WWII and postwar.

I am delighted to be in such a fascinating company of stories covering eras and places from ancient Egypt to Persia to the American Civil War and much more.

The book is available at Xcite Books, and on Amazon in Kindle Edition and paperback .

Robert Auer, Maestro of Art Nouveau Sensuality

A trip to Russia in April-May, a search for a high school for my 8th grader, a scramble to sign him up for summer camps, and a catch-up game at work after my travel – lots of things have been done over the past few months, but I read no new books and watched no new films.

As I sustained my inner culture vulture by surfing the Net, I discovered stunningly erotic nudes by Robert Auer, a Croatian artist (1873-1952). He was among the first professors at the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb, and the only Croatian artist to present his works at the Secession exhibition in Munich in 1896.  His works received a special recognition at the 1906 World Fair in Paris.

Robert Auer was a renowned maestro of his time, having done over 150 portraits for his upper class patrons, as well as watercolors, still lifes, photographs and many more. One of the most striking chapters of his art was his sumptuous nudes, full of life and eroticism. Artists of all times and schools did nudes, but only a few of them could match the passion, emotion and sensuality of Auer’s works.

After a period of obscurity, Auer’s works came into limelight when the Museum of Klovićevi Dvori in Zagreb held a retrospective of his art in 2010. Here is a video of the exhibition, A Sensual Master. More art can be found on this Facebook page.

Being a fan of the Art Nouveau decorative style, I am also posting a photo of this magnificent armoire with Robert Auer's designs:

Happy Vintage Valentine's Day!

The other day I came across an online collection of vintage postcards. Despite my lack of spare time, I did not leave the website until I viewed most of it. The naive charm of the romance postcards captivated me, and I'm sharing a few here (Vintage Romance Postcards):

And some old-fashioned humor (Vintage Humor Postcards):

The Cuckoo

Studio: CTB Film Company
Release Date: 09/12/2002
Starring: Anni-Kristiina Juuso, Ville Haapasalo, Viktor Bychkov
Run time: 103 minutes
Rating: PG-13
Director: Aleksandr Payne

In September 1944, as World War II rages, Anni (Anni-Kristiina Juuso), a kind-hearted and lonely Lapp woman, goes to bury the war dead and finds Ivan (Viktor Bychkov), a wounded Russian soldier condemned to execution for dissent. At the same time she gives shelter to Veikko (Ville Haapasalo), a Finnish soldier who, because of his pacifist views, has been chained to a rock to meet his death in the wilderness.

None in this ménage à trois speaks the others’ languages, which results in comic and sometimes worrisome situations. Nevertheless, Anni does her best to keep the soldiers of warring armies from getting into a fight. The war has no meaning to her, and her chief concern is that no one be harmed.

Fittingly, Anni, who has not seen a man in four years after her husband was conscripted into the army, is sincere about having “an aching below the tummy” and gets her message across to the men, as they settle in at her primitive reindeer farm.

The laconic beauty of Lapland scenery, down-to-earth humanity and humor, deep anti-war sentiment, and otherworldly Lapp mysticism make this movie a feast for the eyes and soul. The ending is very touching, albeit bittersweet.

Although the movie is rated PG-13 and has no graphic sex, it raises adult topics which some parents might not find appropriate for school-age children.

My rating: Five lilies out of five.
